For measuring pressure in acetylene pressure relief valves, at EMVO Techniek we have special acetylene pressure gauges directly available from stock. These pressure gauges consist of materials that are resistant to the inflammable and potentially dangerous properties of acetylene.

Application and characteristics of acetylene pressure gauges

Acetylene pressure gauges are used for measuring pressure in acetylene gas in cylinders or piping systems. Acetylene is inflammable and can cause chemical reactions in case of contact with certain materials. For that reason, our acetylene pressure gauges are designed with brass elements. Brass does not react with acetylene. The Bourdon tube consists of a brass alloy according to ISO 9539 regulations, and the mechanism and the socket are also made of brass.

Safety

It is essential that an acetylene pressure gauge is solely used for measuring pressure in acetylene gas, and not for other gas types. Misuse may cause extremely dangerous situations, such as explosions or uncontrolled self-ignition. Therefor, our acetylene pressure gauges have an acetylene hallmark to clearly indicate the purpose of this instrument.

Acetylene processes

Acetylene is used in a number of sectors and circumstances, and a pressure gauge is essential for processes so that pressure is regulated and controlled. For example:

  • Gas welding: The fuel used in gas welding system is usually acetylene, combined with oxygen to produce an extra hot flame. An acetylene pressure gauge can measure and control gas pressure.
  • Acetylene is also used in other metal working processes, such as cutting, solding, brazing, thermal spraying, and hardening.
  • In maritime transport, mining and at construction sites, portable and bright lighting is essential. Acetylene is often used to that end, and an acetylene pressure gauge can make sure the right amount of gas is used.
  • For the production of several chemical connections (chemical synthesis), acetylene is also used as a resource. To create optimal circumstances for the reaction, a special manometer is of great importance.
