What is a chemical seal?

A chemical seal makes sure the pressure transmission in a medium can be performed, while the medium is maintained separated from the instrument itself. Without a chemical seal, aggressive, toxic, corrosive, or viscous materials would damage pollute the interior of the pressure gauge. In other words, a chemical seal is a type of barrier between the medium and the measuring instrument.

So, what does that look like? A chemical seal is a case, closed by a (stainless steel) diaphragm, filled with an appropriate fluid or gel that transmits the pressure of the medium. In some cases, a capillary is used.

The working of a pressure gauge with chemical seal
