What are glycerin-filled pressure gauges used for?
This type of pressure gauge is ideal for measuring pressure in machines that experience heavy vibrations or shocks. The glycerin absorbs these forces, ensuring that readings remain stable. Thanks to the flange (hence sometimes called a flange gauge), these pressure gauges are very easy to mount on panels or, for example, control cabinets.
Scale ranges
When purchasing a glycerin-filled panel-mounted pressure gauge, it is important for safety reasons to pay close attention to the scale range. The key factor is the type of pressure being measured:
- Constant pressure: The maximum working pressure of the medium should not exceed 75% of the gauge’s maximum scale value.
- Cyclic pressure: The working pressure should not exceed 65% of the maximum scale value.
By maintaining a margin on the scale, the gauge will continue to operate correctly even if unexpected pressure spikes occur.
