Our stainless steel cased dry pressure gauges
In the dry pressure gauge category, you will find two types that have a stainless-steel case: the 7011 and the 7014. These two types are available in different dimensions:
- Diameter 40 mm;
- Diameter 50 mm;
- Diameter 63 mm;
- Diameter 100 mm class 1.6;
- Diameter 100 mm class 1.0.
The 7011 is a Bourdon tube pressure gauge with a stainless-steel case with a brass bottom connection. The 7014 is similar, but the brass connection is situated on the back.
What is stainless steel?
Stainless steel consists of an alloy of iron and carbon (steel), to which a minimum of 10.5% of chrome is added. Chrome provides the steel of a particularly good protection against corrosion. The higher the chrome percentage, the higher corrosion resistance will get. The chrome component forms an oxygen tight layer of chrome oxide on the surface of the steel that prevents it from rusting. Sometimes, extra elements are added to the alloy, such as nickel, manganese, or niobium to increase corrosion protection.
Some advantages of stainless steel:
- It’s a rust resistant material;
- It is well resistant against all kinds of weather conditions;
- It is water resistant;
- It is sustainable.
Why a dry pressure gauge with stainless steel casing?
A dry pressure gauge with a stainless-steel case is very suitable for environments in which the instrument may be exposed to moisture (for example, rain), but vibrations, pressure surges, and sudden blows are not an issue. When they are an issue, a glycerin filled pressure gauge with a stainless steel case is a better solution. That is because the glycerin will make sure three things:
- The pressure gauge mechanism is protected by the fluid from wearing out because of vibrations or blows;
- The fluid in the display maintains stable the indicating needle, enabling you to always read pressure values correctly;
- Condensation on the inside of the display is prevented.
Dry pressure gauges with stainless steel casings are cheaper than glycerin filled manometers. In the majority of circumstances, a dry pressure gauge will suffice. Do you have any doubts? Do not hesitate to ask us for advice!
Pressure reach
You can order our pressure gauges in any pressure range. When you choose your instrument, it is important that the maximum range is at least one third higher than the average measured pressure. This guarantees that the instrument will continue to indicate the right pressure values, even when it has an unexpected deviation. Another option is to opt for a maximum range that is 50% higher than the average pressure. That way, when pressure is normal, the needle will remain more or less in the middle of the display, facilitating readings.
