Manometers for depths up to 6000 meters below sea level
While the CAISSON series is designed for applications in decompression chambers, the PBX series offers various models for different maximum depths:
- PBX-SS (Deep Sea): Standard maximum depth of 450 to 1200 meters. Optional up to 2000 meters.
- PBX-SS-CD (Compensation Diaphragm): Standard maximum depth up to 2500 meters.
- PBX-SS-ED (Extra Deep): Standard maximum depth up to 4000 meters.
- PBX-SS-UD (Ultra Deep): Standard maximum depth up to 6000 meters.
Each model comes with a datasheet containing all specifications and possible options.
From chromium to titanium – Different types of stainless steel
Stainless steel is an alloy primarily composed of iron, chromium, and other elements like nickel and molybdenum. This alloy is known for its high corrosion resistance, strength, and durability. Depending on the application, we use different types of stainless steel for our deep sea manometers, specified as AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute) plus a number. For the housing and media contact parts, we use:
AISI 304
AISI 304 stainless steel is a versatile and widely used type with excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. Due to its versatility and outstanding performance in various environments, it is a popular choice across many sectors.
Chemical composition:
- Chromium (Cr): 18-20%
- Nickel (Ni): 8-10.5%
- Molybdenum (Mo): Not present
- Carbon (C): max. 0.08%
AISI 316
AISI 316 stainless steel is a high-grade type with excellent corrosion resistance, especially in chloride environments. Its versatile applications and exceptional properties make it one of the best choices for demanding and corrosive environments, although it is more expensive and harder to process than other types like AISI 304.
Chemical composition:
- Chromium (Cr): 16-18%
- Nickel (Ni): 10-14%
- Molybdenum (Mo): 2-3%
- Carbon (C): max. 0.08%
- Manganese (Mn): max. 2%
- Silicon (Si): max. 0.75%
- Phosphorus (P): max. 0.045%
- Sulfur (S): max. 0.03%
AISI 316L
AISI 316L is a specialized variant of AISI 316 stainless steel, characterized by a lower carbon content and related benefits in terms of weldability and corrosion resistance after welding.
Chemical composition:
- Chromium (Cr): 16-18%
- Nickel (Ni): 10-14%
- Molybdenum (Mo): 2-3%
- Carbon (C): max. 0.03%
AISI 316Ti
AISI 316Ti is another specific variant of AISI 316 stainless steel, with the addition of titanium. This serves to stabilize against intergranular corrosion after welding and to improve resistance at high temperatures.
Chemical composition:
- Chromium (Cr): 16-18%
- Nickel (Ni): 10-14%
- Molybdenum (Mo): 2-3%
- Titanium (Ti): 0.5% (to reduce the risk of intergranular corrosion)
- Carbon (C): max. 0.08%
On the pages of every manometer series, you will find a datasheet with all specifications, models, and possible optional expansions.
